{"id":126,"date":"2015-01-05T21:15:51","date_gmt":"2015-01-05T21:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/?p=126"},"modified":"2015-01-08T03:36:26","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T03:36:26","slug":"5-jan-2015-report-day-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/5-jan-2015-report-day-5\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Jan 2015 Report (Day 5)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Steady north winds seemed to keep the birds hunkered down most of the day. \u00a0I was outside off and on all morning, and listening to the OldBird 21c microphone when not outside or watching the windows. \u00a0No new birds for the day, but did add 3 more to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/photo-list\/\">photo big year list<\/a>, including this <strong>White-breasted Nuthatch<\/strong> on my suet feeder.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"White-breasted Nuthatch by Rob Fergus, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/90105208@N07\/15585155604\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7500\/15585155604_5db60d897b.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"White-breasted Nuthatch\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This morning with Google Earth I was able to find that the hillside I&#8217;m watching with my spotting scope is 3.1 miles away. \u00a0With my Kowa 883 scope I easily identified <strong>Canada Goose<\/strong> and <strong>Snow Goose<\/strong> flocks flying beyond and behind the hill today, as well as White-tailed Deer walking in the forest on the hill. \u00a0So maybe someday, IF there are Wild Turkeys walking around up there, I&#8217;ll be able to see them from my yard!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/315730_161712033924233_1449431862_n.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-115 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/315730_161712033924233_1449431862_n.jpg?resize=144%2C63\" alt=\"315730_161712033924233_1449431862_n\" width=\"144\" height=\"63\" \/><\/a>27 species for the day, pretty quiet. \u00a0Here are my eBird checklists from the <a href=\"http:\/\/ebird.org\/ebird\/view\/checklist?subID=S21206085\">morning<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ebird.org\/ebird\/view\/checklist?subID=S21209936\">afternoon.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steady north winds seemed to keep the birds hunkered down most of the day. \u00a0I was outside off and on all morning, and listening to the OldBird 21c microphone when not outside or watching the windows. \u00a0No new birds for &hellip;
