{"id":451,"date":"2015-01-20T23:03:12","date_gmt":"2015-01-20T23:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/?p=451"},"modified":"2015-01-20T23:03:12","modified_gmt":"2015-01-20T23:03:12","slug":"persistence-pays-20-jan-daily-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backyardbigyear.com\/blog\/persistence-pays-20-jan-daily-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Persistence Pays&#8211;20 Jan (Daily Report)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For weeks I&#8217;ve been looking at every Canada Goose flock flying past my yard, looking for a small, short-necked version of a Canada Goose. \u00a0I just checked on eBird. \u00a0I&#8217;ve counted at least 3,278 Canada Goose from my yard so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>This morning I got a late start. \u00a0My kids needed some help, so by the time I got outside the geese were already moving. \u00a0I walked around the corner to get my scope from my car&#8211;and a flock of Canada&#8217;s was flying past over my neighbor&#8217;s yard. \u00a0I quickly got my bins on them. \u00a0The third bird back in the group was 2\/3 the size of the others, with a short neck and more pointy wings&#8211;Bingo! \u00a0Cackling Goose (Code 3)!<\/p>\n<p>Good things come to those who wait. \u00a0Though waiting can be a real pain!
