Last day of school for the kids. \u00a0After I got them on the bus, it took over an hour to finally get my 20 Bird Minimum Daily Requirement. \u00a0Still able to meet that minimum, but some days it takes awhile! \u00a0Here’s the list from the backyard this morning:<\/p>\n
Chipping Sparrow<\/strong>–two birds actively calling and flying around the yard. \u00a0One bird gleaning moths off the garage door.<\/p>\n Mourning Dove<\/strong>–one bird calling<\/p>\n Blue Jay<\/strong>–one bird calling and seen in the trees<\/p>\n American Crow<\/strong>–heard off in the distance<\/p>\n Chimney Swift<\/strong>–3 birds flew over the yard twice<\/p>\n Gray Catbird<\/strong>–at least 3 birds singing in the yard and flying around<\/p>\n Common Yellowthroat<\/strong>–one male singing in the side yard<\/p>\n American Goldfinch<\/strong>–2 birds came into the feeders<\/p>\n House Wren<\/strong>–at least one bird singing<\/p>\n White-breasted Nuthatch<\/strong>–at least 3 birds in yard, visiting feeder and flying around<\/p>\n Tufted Titmouse<\/strong>–1 bird came into the feeders<\/p>\n Downy Woodpecker<\/strong>–at least 2 birds flying around, coming to suet feeder<\/p>\n Great Crested Flycatcher<\/strong>–1 bird calling in neighborhood<\/p>\n Pileated Woodpecker<\/strong>–heard only, in side yard<\/p>\n Ruby-throated Hummingbird<\/strong>–male coming occasionally to feeder<\/p>\n American Robin<\/strong>–heard only, alarm call<\/p>\n Eastern Wood Pewee<\/strong>–heard only, briefly<\/p>\n Northern Cardinal<\/strong>–male and female seen, female at suet feeder<\/p>\n House Sparrow<\/strong>–male came in to feeders briefly<\/p>\n Turkey Vulture<\/strong>–finally my 20th bird of the morning after an hour and a half in the yard<\/p>\n House Finch<\/strong>–a female landing briefly in top of tree in side yard<\/p>\n Osprey<\/strong>–low flyover house while retrieving recycling containers from roadside<\/p>\n Constant bird action in the yard, but not a lot of variety. \u00a0A pretty typical June day in the yard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Last day of school for the kids. \u00a0After I got them on the bus, it took over an hour to finally get my 20 Bird Minimum Daily Requirement. \u00a0Still able to meet that minimum, but some days it takes awhile! … Continue reading
